To discover our featured clutch artist, we traveled to San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala, a small weaving community on a lake at the base of a volcano. As if the scenery wasn’t enough, the streets were lined with some the most incredible colorful textiles we had ever seen. Our featured artist was a part of a weaving community with unique patterns and color combinations that were inspired by their culture and surroundings.
Juana Mendoza Coché expresses her art through the craft of weaving. Taught by her mother at age 16, the art of weaving textiles has been in her family for decades. As a kid, Juana loved to draw, and now uses those same sketches to weave the geometric patterns, animals, and flowers into her designs.
